Um...wouldn't an atheist tone just be not mentioning God at all? How would you sell a product with an atheist message. "You're going to die forever with no hope, so will your children who you love. So buy a Jeep while you still can!"

God and the Super Bowl
by Christ Alone indid anyone notice the frequency that god was mentioned during the super bowl?
i was impressed.
with the rampant atheism here, sometimes it's easy to forget that belief is still very strong.

And yet we all will eat and throw away food. Wonder why we blame Him for not doing anything when we have the power to help and do not many times. Won't blame ourselves! NO!!!! Just blame God for not creating a miracle. And yet, millions of Christians are undertaking a God given work of feeding others. And yet, Atheists wish they'd just go away. I guess its easier to just blame God than see that we are responsible for the problem and we can be responsible for the solution.
Oh dear....maybe I should delete this. I didn't mean for this to be another pointless believer v non believer debate. Just wanted to comment on the many references to God during the game. Atheism is still very small. Even though it is over 80% with exJWs (just as it is with exMormons and other ex Cultists), it is still a force to be reckoned with.
No one will embrace the "No Hope" of atheism. The majority will never be able to watch their child die and be happy with accepting that they will never see their child again. Never. They no longer exist. No hope. The majority will never watch themselves get old and think that they will no longer exist after death. It's such a depressing paradigm. Hopeless. Depressing. Yet...WE'RE SET FREE! YAY!!!!

I thought you guys liked proof and numbers? Where's the single figures proof?
I still call it a lull. It'll pick back up, I think. Anyway, still love NT Wright. And he's from your country.

Sorry, I didn't notice the 2011 census. Atheism is still far behind Christianity. I did appreciate the "Jedi Knight" reference...

Britain is not an atheist nation. You have some great ones! N.T Wright is a great hero of mine and for Britain. Your own Queen is a very devout Christian. No, while Christianity has hit a lull in Britain, it definitely has not been phased out. And will not, imo.
Here's the latest census I could find about Britain. Atheism is still quite small:
The UK population: by religion
As far as it seeming impossible a century ago, maybe we'll revisit this topic in America in a century.

Did anyone notice the frequency that God was mentioned during the Super Bowl? I was impressed. With the rampant atheism here, sometimes it's easy to forget that belief is still very strong. The desire that many have expressed here of an atheist nation will never happen.
I wondered if anyone else noticed the frequency of mention of God and Prayer during the super bowl. Here are some that I noticed. Oprah (and Jeep) talked about prayer for our troops. Ram talked about God gift of Farmers. Jennifer Hudson and Sandy Hook elementary sung about God blessing America. And Ray Lewis (on the final video listed here) at 4:35 said, "If God is for us, who can stand against us."
Did this annoy any of you?

Mind Reading and Reinstatement - Part 1
by RayPublisher ini've published a new article on my blog about the agony that people go through in seeking reinstatement.
part one includes a personal experience of one that crawled throught this field of glass in order to be able to regain a relationship with a close friend that is asleep in the jw movement.. part two will have a transcript (and accompanying audio on my youtube channel) from a sister that recorded her entire reinstatement hearing, including what the elders said about her after she was dismissed from the room while they deliberated.. here's a peek at the article on jwstruggle:.
.. .. .. there are likely a number of you on jwnet that have "been there and back again" and gone through it.. what was the hardest thing about getting reinstated?.

Absolutely perfect! Not sensational. Not fully of bitter anger. The article had exactly the perfect tone that I've come to expect from you, Ray and Londo! Not exactly the "apostate" info that JWs think they are going to be reading.
The only thing I could think of through reading through it was "abuse". Everyone gets up in arms about the WT covering over child abuse (which they do). But there is a larger abuse that takes place on a much greater scale in the organization. Mental and Spiritual abuse. The GB are the main culprits with the Elders being their minions. They are abusing millions of people. They are forcing toxic shame and guilt on honest hearted people that only want some relief and hope from what they view as an evil world outside of the WT. But they are abused by the very people that are supposed to be a protection for them.
Some elders are unintentional abusers. They don't mean to drag people down, but they know no other way. If they are to follow the WT, they must practice some form of abuse. And this abuse, in my opinion, is why so many leave God after leaving the WT. I know that there is the lack of evidence argument. I don't see it myself, but that's beside the point. The WT is extremely bloodguilty, again in my opinion, for forcing people away from God. "If we don't have the truth, no one does", is the mantra of many JWs. So when they find out that the organization is just a sham, they don't even consider Christianity. Some, like Cofty, are the exception. But it IS an exception. They don't experience what it's like to worship with others. They isolate themselves, and begin to form opinions about God without really seeing what being a Christian is all about.
Eh...I'm sure many will disagree with some of that. But my main point is that regardless of your beliefs or lack therof after leaving the org, you have been abused. Every single one of you here that were a JW (or ARE a JW), you have suffered abuse whether you know it or not. And acknowledging the abuse and understanding the abuser is the first step to moving on.

He says he's been a JW since 82...so that would be 40 years. Hmmm....maybe he should do something at the university other than preach there...

ExJW similarities to ExMormons
by Christ Alone ini've recently noticed that many that leave the mormon church have very similar experiences to those that leave the watchtower.
i thought that since we have so many new people on the site, it may be that some of them are still leary of reading or watching experiences from exjws.
i found an exit story from an exmormon family, and much of what they say is similar to our experiences.

Notice this families discussion about dedicating their lives to an organization, and how their loyalty was to men over God.
